Farmers' Mutual Insurance Company was founded in 1875 to provide insurance coverage for the farmers of the Grand Traverse area. Since then many changes have taken place at Farmers' Mutual. The company has expanded its product line to include homes, manufactured homes, rental dwellings, and watercraft. It has also expanded the territory in which this coverage is provided to include all of Michigan. This expansion is ongoing through its independent agents. Farmers' Mutual is a local company providing exceptional service to all of its policyholders.

Farmers' Mutual is involved through contributions to local organizations including 4-H, Women's Resource Center, Father Fred Foundation, and St. Francis Gladhander.
